Southport Market transformed into a winter wonderland

Southport Market has been transformed into a stunning Christmas wonderland by local company Enhance Events.

Hundreds of people have been stopping to take pictures next to the dramatically decorated entrance to the popular food, drink and events venue.

The area features two giant festive legs hanging over the doorway, along with lots of glittering baubles, foliage, ribbons and figurines.

Inside are beautiful Christmas trees, giant baubles, twinkling lights and more decorations.

There are some fabulous photo opportunities, with families able to take the perfect picture sat on Santa’s throne or next to the large traditional Christmas tree.

The work of art took a week to complete by Jenny Armstrong, owner of Enhance Events.

She has also created a beautiful new Christmas-themed look in the Extravaganza events space at the back of Southport Market, which will be screening free festive movies in conjunction with Bijou Cinema Southport throughout December.

Any local businesses which want to get a sparkling new Christmas look for either this year or next year are invited to get in touch with Enhance Events.

Jenny founded Fantasy Weddings in 2008 and earlier this year renamed the firm Enhance Events to better reflect the much broader range of venues and work now catered for.

The trained florist and interior designer heads a team of six which has worked on thousands of weddings and events throughout the North West and beyond.

Her Wedding Planning and Event Management expertise has seen Jenny and her team dress a wide variety of venues for weddings, birthdays and many other special occasions.

Bringing Christmas to Southport Market has brought huge joy to families as they walk in.

Enhance Events also wowed audiences after transforming Southport Market’s Events space into a traditional Greek village taverna earlier in November for performances of Mamma Mia, working with Gambolling Arena Theatre Company and Pitamu, which provided the Greek street food.

Jenny has worked on well over 1,000 weddings, parties and events, and has qualifications in floristry and interior design.

As visitors to Southport Market can see, she has a keen eye for design and excellent attention to detail. She loves her job and getting to know her clients and working with them to create their dream wedding, perfect event or magical Christmas.

She said: “I have enjoyed creating the arch, all the Christmas decorations and the big Christmas tree.

“With the archway, we were here all week! The Market was closed on the Monday and Tuesday which helped, and then we carried on until it was complete.

“It took a lot of planning. We created mood boards to see how it would look.

“Leah Harwood, the Sales and Events Officer at Southport Market, gave me a good picture of what she wanted to see. I enjoy working with clients to create their vision.

“The reaction from people has been fantastic. It is lovely to see their faces when they walk in and they first see it. Southport Market is a very family orientated venue.

“Southport Market published a video of it on their social media pages which has had hundreds of views! It has been lovely to see.

“I recently created the Christmas decorations inside the La Tabella restaurant in Churchtown as well.

“I enjoy helping to bring that real ‘wow’ factor to local businesses at Christmas.”
